Hans Brassler Amethyst Brooch

Hans Brassler amethyst and roses brooch. (J9256)

Roses and Amethyst

A rich purple amethyst centers a radiating "trellis" set with golden roses and luminous pearls.  The finely reeded border that frames this beautiful brooch could serve as an elegant garden wall.  Created by Hans Brassler in 14kt gold, circa 1910.

The reverse of this brooch is as beautifully crafted as the front.  Note the sturdiness and detail of the frame that protects the gemstones and assures the integrity of the design.  A strong pin stem with an early safety clasp secures this brooch when worn on a lapel, blouse or hat.  This jewel was designed and crafted to survive its next 100 years as ably as it has its first.

Hans Brassler was an imaginative designer, jeweler and artist who in the early 1900s created a small collection of gem-set brooches with roses gracing a trellis of knife-edge wires accented with small pearls.  Brassler's work is striking in its originality and for his uncompromising commitment to fine craftsmanship.  The maker's mark of Hans Brassler - "14B" inside a double oval - is stamped on the lower reverse beneath the pearl.
