Art Deco Onyx and Gold CufflinksFleur de Lys! |
The dramatic contrast between luminous white gold borders and black onyx centers dates these beautiful cufflinks to the Art Deco era. The borders are accented with four stylized fleurs de lys. The rich, dark onyx centers are slightly cupped to capture the light. Created by Carrington & Co. in 14kt white and yellow gold, circa 1925.
The cufflinks are exceptionally well crafted. Note the maker's careful attention to detail. Sturdy brackets and strong cross bars secure the links on the cuff. The 14kt yellow gold backs are polished to a mirror-like finish (the dark reflections are from our camera).
The maker's mark of Carrington & Company (a "C" surrounding "14") is found on the reverse of the cufflinks. Carrington & Co. was a renowned maker of fine cufflinks, elegant dress sets and other jewels during the first half of the 20th century. The firm's gold and platinum cufflinks were sold by many of the finest jewelers of the day, including Tiffany & Company. Name: Fleur de Lys!
