Art Deco Sapphire CufflinksSapphire Jazz |
Bright blue sapphires sparkle amid radiating
cascades of scalloped circles. Around the finely engraved
centers are Art Deco borders with alternating scroll and
stylized "dragonfly" motifs. These cufflinks were
elegantly crafted by William Huger & Company in 14kt gold,
circa 1925. The backs of the cufflinks are crafted in yellow gold. As with the fronts, the backs are finely made. Note the sturdy brackets, rings and cross bars that secure these cufflinks on the cuff while also helping to protect the sapphires. The yellow gold has a striking mirror-like finish - please excuse the shadowy reflections of the camera.
The maker's mark of William Huger (an "H" squeezed in the middle) is stamped on the reverse of the cufflinks. William Huger was a maker of fine cufflinks and other jewels during the early 20th century. The Huger workshop is especially well known for the striking, richly detailed cufflinks it created during the Art Deco era. With the maker's mark "14" is stamped to indicate the purity of the gold.
