Sapphire Scrolls

Flowing, intertwining scrolls frame a luscious blue sapphire.  This beautiful stickpin elegantly weds elements of the Art Nouveau and Celtic Revival styles.  Finely crafted by Whiteside & Blank in 14kt gold, circa 1900.

Whiteside & Blank was an innovative jewelry maker who in the late 1800s and early 1900s crafted some of the finest stickpins, cufflinks and brooches of the period.  The firm was known for its elegant designs, dramatic goldwork and meticulous craftsmanship.  Whiteside & Blank's jewels and watches were retailed by Tiffany & Company and other carriage-trade jewelers of the day.

The maker's mark of Whiteside & Blank (an arrow impaling a crescent) is stamped on the upper right reverse of the stickpin, along with the gold purity mark "14".   The photograph below illustrates the mark, as well as the care taken in crafting all parts of the jewel.

Cost:  Although this elegant stickpin has sold,  you will find many more
fine stickpins in the Antique Stickpin Gallery.

Measurements:  This 14kt gold stickpin is 2 1/2" long and weighs 2.4 grams.  The intertwining top is  9/16" tall and 5/8" wide.
