Beautiful Gold and Enamel BroochGilded Age Splendor |
Richly detailed gold and enamel work frame the
finely engraved blue guilloche enamel center of this elegant
brooch from the Gilded Age. The edges of the goldwork are
accented with white enamel and the cardinal points are
embellished with budding fleurs-de-lis set with small
pearls. A masterwork of the jeweler's art created by
Wordley, Allsopp & Bliss in 14kt gold in the years around
1910.
This brooch is finely crafted with a solid gold back protecting the intricate enamel and gold work on the front. Note the clean edges of the cutout work around the fleurs-de-lis and the smooth, even finish of the gold surfaces. A sturdy pin stem and early safety clasp secure the brooch when worn. No effort was spared in tending to the small details of this jewel.
The top of the clasp is stamped with the maker's mark of Wordley, Allsopp & Bliss ("WAB"), a maker of fine brooches and other jewels during the early decades of the last century. Beneath the maker's mark "14K" is stamped for the purity of the gold. Name: Gilded Age Splendor |
