Brassler Lapis

The rich blue of lapis lazuli with golden bits of pyrite that glitter like distant stars in the night sky.  A wonderful example of the dramatic jewels created by Hans Brassler in the Art Nouveau taste.  Crafted in 14kt gold, circa 1910.

Hans Brassler was an imaginative artist/jeweler who created unique and beautiful works of art with gemstones and gold.  He drew inspiration from many sources - distant and past cultures, mythology, geometry, nature and most of all his own fertile imagination.  One aspect of his genius was his ability to bring together design elements from disparate sources to create elegantly original jewels.

This stickpin is finely crafted with a sturdy frame cradling the Lapis lazuli and a strong pin stem securing the jewel when worn.  The maker's mark for the Brassler workshop ("14B" in a double oval) is stamped on the lower reverse behind the pin stem (see photo below).

Cost: $490

Measurements:  This 14kt gold stickpin is 2 11/16" long and the top is 11/16" tall by 9/16" wide.  It weighs 2.9 grams.
