Brassler Sapphire Stickpin

Hans Brassler sapphire stickpin. (J9359)

Winged Sapphire

A glowing sapphire set between stylized wings in a free-flowing stickpin evocative of a bizarre creature or insect soaring upwards.  Created by Hans Brassler in 14kt gold, circa 1910.

In the early 1900s Hans Brassler, an innovative goldsmith and jewelry designer, created a wonderful menagerie of jewels that drew upon natural plant and animal forms to create a small collection of fantastic, golden creatures.  This whimsical stickpin is a wonderful example of Brassler's imaginative work.

The stickpin is finely crafted with a sturdy frame and strong gold pin stem to secure the jewel when it is worn.  The maker's mark of The Brassler Company ("14B" in a double oval) is stamped on the upper side of the pin stem.

Cost:  $425

Measurements:  This 14kt gold stickpin is 2 3/4" long and the top measures just under 3/4" by  just over 3/8".  It weighs 1.7 grams.
