Hans Brassler Amethyst CufflinksAmethyst and Gold! |
Rich purple amethysts set in distinctive,
beautifully designed gold cufflinks in the eclectic style of the
early 1900s. A miniature work of sculpture created by Hans
Brassler in 14kt gold, circa 1910.
The backs of the cufflinks are as beautifully crafted as the fronts. Note the sturdy arched brackets that help protect the backs of the amethysts and the strong cross bars that secure the cufflinks on the cuff.
The reverse of the cufflinks are stamped with the maker's mark of Hans Brassler, "14B" inside a double oval. Brassler was a gifted jewelry designer and goldsmith who in the early 1900s created a wonderful body of stickpins, brooches and other jewels that are best described as miniature works of sculpture. He drew inspiration from nature, fantasy and the ancient past and created wonderfully imaginative jewels in the Art Nouveau, Art Deco and Beaux Arts styles.
