| A striking Retro brooch set with a purple
amethyst. The amethyst's color plays beautifully against
the glow of the softly textured gold, while the gem's shape is
highlighted by the the elongated, flaring design of the
brooch. Created by an unidentified maker in 14kt gold,
circa 1940.
 This brooch is finely crafted with a sturdy pin stem and safety clasp to secure the jewel on a lapel, hat or blouse. The surfaces and edges of the back are crisply finished. With a little care this brooch will survive the next 100 years as beautifully as it has survived the last.
 The top of the clasp is stamped "14K" for the purity of the gold. To the left of the gold mark is an unidentified maker's mark resembling a child's top lying on its side. Name: Retro Amethyst
