Art Deco StickpinTribal Arts! |
An Art Deco stickpin with a stylized shield motif and gleaming spear points. In the center a mysterious, dark blue sapphire is set in a milgrained bezel. Crafted in platinum and 14kt gold, circa 1930.
Art Deco jewelry makers drew inspiration from a variety of sources in their quest for the exotic and the new. They often found inspiration in what were mislabelled the "primitive" arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas. This stickpin with a platinum shield and gleaming spear points is an elegant example of the style. The reverse of the stickpin (pictured below) is as well crafted as the front. Note the thickness of the sturdy walls of the shield motif and the bezel setting protecting the sapphire. Cost: Although this elegant stickpin has sold, you will find many more fine stickpins in the Antique Stickpin Gallery. |
