Winged Victory Stickpin

Art Deco Victory with pearl stickpin. (J9168)

Winged Victory

A finely detailed Art Deco stickpin of the goddess Victoria triumphantly raising a golden pearl between her soaring wings.  Note the two lilies rising within the wings to meet the pearl and the radiant array of the feathers.  Truly a miniature work of sculpture.  Crafted in 14kt gold,  circa 1925.

While I cannot speak to the symbolism of the raised pearl or the two small rubies set beneath the wings,  the image of the goddess Victoria (the Greek Nike) was prevalent following the allied victory in World War I.  She appears to have been a symbol of both strength and peace.

This stickpin is well crafted and secured with a sturdy pin stem (see picture below).  The solid back is stamped "14K" on the upper left for the purity of the gold.

Cost:  Although this elegant stickpin has sold,  you will find many more fine stickpins in the Antique Stickpin Gallery.

Measurements:  This 14kt gold stickpin is  2 3/8" long and weighs 1.7 grams.  The top is 1/2" tall and just over 1/2" wide.
