Art Deco Sapphire BroochSapphires and Filigree |
An elegant Art Deco brooch with sparkling man-made sapphires set amid an intricate web of white gold filigree. The design is completed by inner and outer borders decorated with stylized leaf and vine motifs. Created by Krementz & Co. in 14kt gold circa 1925. The beauty of this brooch is matched by the care with which it was created. The back is finely crafted of 14kt yellow gold. Note the crispness of the filigree work and the sturdy side walls that frame and protect the intricate design. This jewel is secured when worn by a sturdy pin stem and strong safety clasp. The top of the clasp is stamped with the maker's mark of Krementz & Company and "14K" for the purity of the gold. The maker's mark (just above the purity mark) is a stylized collar button, also sometimes known as the "moustache" or "double handled umbrella." Krementz & Co. was founded shortly after the Civil War and created beautifully designed, finely crafted brooches, cufflinks and other jewels well into the 20th century. Name: Sapphires and Filigree |
