Order of the Elks CufflinksOrder of the Elks! |
The calling elk, clock showing 11:00pm, and five-pointed star are symbols of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks. In the early 1900s these richly detailed cufflinks were likely worn by a loyal member of his local lodge. Crafted in 14kt gold, circa 1920.
The backs of the cufflinks are as well designed as the fronts. Note the sturdy brackets which anchor the flared bridges. The flared bridges help orient the cufflinks on the cuff. The bridges are stamped "14K" for the purity of the gold.
At the turn of the last century there were several jewelers manufacturing fine cufflinks and related accessories for fraternal, religious and civic organizations. The fashion of the times was to literally wear your affiliation on your sleeve. The maker of these well crafted cufflinks has not yet been identified.
Name: Order of the Elks
